I wanted to send an update about the winter clothing many donated for refugees. Thank you all for your support!
There was a slight change in plans after 1) I was overwhelmed by the donations (in a good way!) 2) I talked with St. Basil’s Church and they recommended I not send clothes directly, because it might not even arrive. I was sad but of course, there are good options locally too. So the plan changed, but stayed on track to help refugees.
I organized the clothes and filled my car, destined for 2 locations: Dorcas International Institute and The Refugee Dream Center. Both located in South Providence and both are organizations that welcome refugees when they arrive in RI.
In the picture you can see my stop to Dorcas. They happily took most of the donations. Second, The Dream Center, they were happy to receive many winter coats because, in the words of the director, “Some refugees, when they arrive to RI, they wear winter coats practically all year round because they are cold.”
Thanks again for your support! I look forward to collecting donations and working with these organizations again in the future, with the help of the church 🙂
