Please join us this Sunday, May 14th, as we complete our year of celebrating 50 years of worship and service “on the hill” in Lincoln! Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar will be our special guest, preaching and celebrating with us. The special 50th anniversary video that was created and presented at our recent celebration dinner will be screened in Fellowship Hall after worship this Sunday. Let’s show Bishop Devadhar what Wesley UMC is all about!
Our Anniversary Celebrations began last year, celebrating a milestone of breaking ground May 8, 1966, when three churches from the local area merged together to create one newly-formed congregation. Worship took place in Fellowship Hall, beginning on March 5, 1967, as the sanctuary wasn’t finished. Finally on May 7, 1967, after much anticipation, the consecration of the sanctuary was celebrated BUT amazingly the pews still hadn’t shown up. Finally, on May 14, 1967, the pews had arrived, and our transition was complete. We began worshiping together and beginning a new chapter.
All are invited to join us for worship and fellowship as we begin the next 50 years!
