At Annual Conference in June 2019, members agreed to a new plan for New England that will move us from 9 Districts to 7 Districts, effective July 1, 2020. All the districts will have new names. We will become part of the Seacoast District which will include the churches in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and South Eastern Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the Islands.
Rev. Dr. Andrew L. Foster III, our current District Superintendent, will be leaving New England to return to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference where he will become the District Superintendent of the East District. A farewell celebration for him is planned for June, but we will also have the opportunity to welcome him to our pulpit on Sunday, May 3rd.
Rev. Dr. David Calhoun, who has been serving in the Cabinet for the past 6 years will become the District Superintendent for our district. Stay tuned for more information as we say goodbye to Rev. Foster, and welcome Rev. Calhoun – and as we learn our new name as the Seacoast District. You can read more about all of this on the conference website: http://www.neumc.org.
