New partnership with Northern RI Food Bank

Wesley UMC is very excited to be doing something to help others in need during this COVID19 time (which is temporary). A tremendous number of people are still in need of FOOD NOW and no doubt will be well into the future.  After research and phone calls we feel our fit is with the Northern RI Food Pantry in Cumberland, RI.   They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and run by  “All Volunteers!”  Check out their website at  www.nrifoodpantry.org.  They are a busy organization and welcome not only our food and cash donations but also welcome us to join them in the spirit of serving families and individuals who desperately need our support.

Going forward we will be given a list of food items needed such as pancake mixes, peanut butter, canned meats etc.  They usually need approximately 400 of each item.  It will be a huge help to them if we can provide a large number of these items rather than a few cans of this or few boxes of that.  We will collect the items and they will pick up at our church!  Let’s be sure to fill their vehicle with PANCAKE MIXES this month!!!!   100, 200, 300 or 400 boxes – let’s see how much we can collect! Can’t shop yourself, but want to help? You can donate money to the church (just indicate food bank in the memo area) and our volunteers will shop for you.

Hopefully when we resume church in our sanctuary we can have some of the Northern Rhode Island Food Pantry volunteers come share their story and meet our loving and caring congregation and share our desire to feed the needy.   We are reminded by  Matthew 25:40 – And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
